On Tuesday, August 5th, at 5:30 PM, the event started at the Consulate’s conference hall under the moderation of the Assistant Consul General.
Following a recitation from the Holy Quran and a minute of silence, a special prayer was offered for the souls of the martyrs of the July-August mass uprising, as well as for the prosperity of Bangladesh and peace in the world. The prayer was led by BASAT’s Asst. Treasurer, Ahnaf Dayan.
Afterward, Bangladeshi expatriates participated in the general discussion, highlighting the contributions of the diaspora during the July uprising and calling for a united role in building a new Bangladesh. On behalf of BASAT, Vice Presidents Ahmed Burhan and Sayed Magfur Ahmad delivered speeches.
Consul General Mr. Muhammad Mizanur Rahman began his address by paying deep tribute and offering prayers for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the July-August uprising. He also highlighted various contributions made by expatriates during that period, including through remittances.
The Consul General called on Bangladeshi expatriates living in Turkey to remain inspired by the spirit of the July uprising and, with a strong sense of identity as Bangladeshis and Bengali speakers, to contribute from their respective positions toward building a just and inclusive Bangladesh free from exploitation and discrimination.
The program concluded with the serving of delicious Bangladeshi cuisine.
